Clearwater’s Northern Communities are home to some of the southeastern region’s best galleries, shops, restaurants, award-winning beaches, and spa resorts.
Dunedin
Dunedin is a waterfront community in northern Clearwater. In this charming community you will find quaint antique shops, art galleries, fine restaurants and pubs all within walking distance of each other on Main Street.
Dunedin Attractions
Saunter over to the Dunedin Marina located just west of downtown on the Inter-coastal Waterway between the Dunedin and Clearwater causeways and enjoy watching the numerous luxury boats and yachts lined up neatly on the dock and bobbing gently in the tide. Small parks and beautiful landscaped gardens dot the community, while old-fashioned street lights and unique architecture add to the town’s quaint, relaxed charm.
Dunedin Sports and Outdoor Recreation
Dunedin offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Ride your bike or take a walk through the Pinella Trail. The trail snakes from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs and cuts through the town center. In the spring, enjoy a cold mug of handcrafted-ale at the Dunedin Brewery or catch the Toronto Blue Jays train for the coming baseball season.
Dunedin Arts and Culture
Get a feel for Dunedin's rich culture and history by visiting the Dunedin Historical Society located in the newly restored railroad station. Experience the community's Scottish heritage by checking out the Celtic Shop of Dunedin or the annual Highland Games and Military Tattoo.
Dunedin Beaches
In the Summer, cruise across the Dunedin Causeway to the award-winning beaches of Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island. Caladesi was ranked #2 in noted beach expert Stephen P. Leatherman’s (of Dr. Beach.org) list of “America's Best Beaches” in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, it jumped to the top spot. Here, you can stroll among the over 375 species of sea birds, some tortoises and lizards and just a handful of people. No wonder it’s considered the region’s most well-kept secret. Both Honeymoon and Caladesi Islands are state parks with pristine beaches that offer plenty of opportunities for swimming, fishing, shelling, and wildlife spotting.
