Belleair
Belleair is a residential town located on the slopes of Clearwater Harbor. The town is home to a variety of houses including charming cottages, sophisticated tropical homes and grand mansions sheltered by huge grandfather oaks. Seasonal residents spend part of their year living in condominium or vacation homes here.
Belleair is also home to one-of-a-kind shops and boutiques and fine dining restaurants. One of the most interesting sites in Belleair is the Belleview Biltmore Resort, a historic hotel built by railroad tycoon Henry B. Plant in 1897. A palatial establishment, the hotel is famous for its architectural features including its sloped green roof, white wood-sided exterior, handcrafted wood work and Tiffany glass inside. It is one of the largest wooden structures in the world. Currently, the Belleview Biltmore Resort is closed for renovations, but is scheduled to reopen in January 2012, in time for its 115th anniversary.
Belleair is also home to three 18-hole golf courses, including the Belleview Biltmore golf club. The championship course was, to a large extent, restored to its classic Ross design. Players can rent accessories, apparel, clubs and shoes at the Belleview Biltmore Pro Shop to meet attire requirements.
Belleair Beach
An old fashioned, picturesque community, the town of Belleair Beach houses upscale residential neighborhoods that are set on a barrier island. A wide variety of folks reside here, including families with kids, retirees, empty-nesters and seasonal residents. Residents of Belleair get to enjoy 4,500 feet of a secluded, white sand shoreline and a peaceful and laid-back atmosphere. Many sea turtles and sea birds also make their nests on the shore.
Belleair Beach also has 11 public parks, a boat ramp, two tennis courts and a municipal marina. As for big-city activities, residents need only drive a short distance to enjoy shopping, dining or catch sporting events and entertainment.
